Without End
The interior of the Black Rose was deserted, save for the dead bodies of what had been once been customers. Grady remained where he was standing by the door, carefully assessing the situation. He took a deep breath before at last closing the door behind him and walking further into the bar-room area. Steve Earle was playing full volume on the sound system and several guys were either slumped over or sitting upright in their chairs, clearly vacant of the life that had once been in them.
He gripped the stake he had in his hand tightly, still wondering whether this was actually happening. Surely it all had to be a dream, after all vampires were nothing but mythological creatures, right? That doubt in his mind was laid to rest when he spotted her in the corner. "Eve, it's over!" He said with a lump in his throat.
She stood up, an unholy specimen of the undead, looking all the more beautiful in spite of that. "Hello lover." She purred with an evil seductiveness. "You've come to me.."
Grady knew that he should kill her, ram this stake into her black heart and end the nightmare. Something in him was stopping though. The fact that he loved her was turning him insane with indecision, and he found that he would not be able to do a damn thing to her. The stake dropped from his hand to the floor, and he allowed her to embrace him. And as she leaned in towards his neck, he prepared for the dark eternity which awaited him...
